NLS participants lean valuable leadership skills.Participants learned fundamental leadership skills and strategies that could be applied to their lodge, unit, and even their lives outside of scouting. At the conclusion of the seminar, each participant (as part of the NLS tradition) completed a commitment contract that stated three key goals that would be accomplished within a 90-day time period.

The youth staff were led by Region Chief Eric Bush, and consisted of Section Chiefs and Lodge Officers. Many training sessions led the participants on a great journey through various engaging sessions. One of the sessions Arrowmen explored was the “Riddle of Man”. In this particular session, participants delved into the concepts of understanding, working with, and leading others.

NLS StaffThis NLS was the southernmost the Northeast Region has held and proved to be a huge success. However, the participant’s NLS commitment does not end with the seminar. Each must complete their contract of three goals and use the skills taught at NLS to benefit their organizations. Whether it be a place of worship, community group, or even their home troop or lodge, each participant left the seminar understanding that they had more to do.

As the seminar taught them, “leadership is something that you do”.
